What affects your final quote
Access
An external inspection chamber or manhole makes clearance and surveys quicker and cheaper. In contrast, internal-only access — or drains under conservatories and extensions — adds time and may require specialist equipment.
Pipe age and material
Victorian and Edwardian clay pipework blocks differently from modern plastic, and is more prone to root ingress and displaced joints. As a result, older systems can need more jetting time and occasionally a lining repair to clear fully.
How established the problem is
A blockage cleared in its first week is usually a single-visit job. However, a drain that has backed up repeatedly for months may have compacted debris or an underlying defect that needs a survey before clearance.
Time and urgency
