Common drainage problems we fix
Every problem below has a fixed-price solution. Pick yours to find local engineers.
-
Blocked drains
Slow-clearing sinks, outdoor gullies or manhole backup. High-pressure jetting clears most blockages on the first visit.
Find engineers -
CCTV drain surveys
Full HD survey with WinCan report. Required for house purchases, insurance claims and water company disputes.
Find engineers -
Drain jetting
Up to 4,000 psi water jets cut through grease, scale, silt and root intrusions that rods cannot shift.
Find engineers -
Root ingress
Tree roots follow moisture into pipe joints. We use root-cutting attachments to clear and CCTV to assess relining need.
Find engineers -
Collapsed pipes
Victorian clay and older plastic pipes crack and collapse. Patch lining or dig-and-replace — we scope it with CCTV first.
Find engineers -
Soakaway failure
Waterlogged gardens and surface flooding often trace to soakaways blocked with silt. We jet-clear or advise replacement.

Drainage problems we solve
UK drains range from Victorian clay pipes to modern plastic push-fit. Each type has its own failure modes. Our engineers know all of them. A grease-blocked kitchen drain needs jetting. A root-infested clay main may need replacement. The right fix depends on knowing what you are dealing with.
Every job arrives with a high-pressure jetter and a CCTV camera on the van. We diagnose accurately before we quote. We don't return for a second visit when the first one could have fixed everything.
When a job genuinely needs follow-up — a relining survey, a planned excavation, a maintenance schedule — we plan it transparently. You see the cost, scope and timing before any second visit gets booked.
- High-pressure water jetting (up to 4,000 psi)
- CCTV drain surveys with WinCan-compliant reports
- Mechanical rodding and drain clearing
- Root-cutter and descaling attachments
- Drain repairs — patch lining, re-lining, dig-and-replace
- Gully and soakaway clearing
- Shared-sewer investigations
- Planned commercial maintenance contracts
The kit on every van
Every drainage engineer van is equipped as a complete mobile unit — not a rodding-only kit. This means we never turn up and then have to book a follow-up because we didn't bring the right machine.
- High-pressure jetter 3,500–4,000 psi water jetting unit cuts through fat, grease, scale and silt.
- CCTV camera system Push-rod HD camera with real-time monitor. WinCan-compliant reporting software.
- Root-cutting head Rotating root-cutter attachment removes tree root balls without excavation.
- Drain-tracing kit Sonde locators and ground-level detectors to map pipe runs without digging.
CCTV drain surveys — what to expect
A CCTV survey takes 45–90 minutes for a typical residential property. The engineer accesses the system at the nearest inspection chamber, inserts the camera, and maps the full run.
The resulting report grades every fault against WRC/Sewerage Sector guidance codes — the same standard used by water companies and surveyors. It identifies root intrusion, joint displacement, cracking and deformation with accurate distance measurements from the nearest chamber.
Solicitors accept our reports for property purchases. Insurers accept them for subsidence and flooding claims. Water companies accept them for adoption and dispute purposes.
Why local drainage knowledge matters
Drainage faults rarely look the same in two postcodes. Hard-water areas like Kent and Hertfordshire build up calcium scale that needs descaling jets. Clay-heavy soils in the Midlands shift over decades and shear pipe joints. A local engineer who knows your area's soil type and pipe stock diagnoses faster and gives better quotes.
Shared-sewer rules vary widely across the UK. Post-1937 properties usually drain into sewers that became the water company's job in 2011. Pre-1937 builds often retain private runs that homeowners must maintain. Knowing which side of that line your property falls on affects who pays for repairs and how fast.
We keep our engineer network deliberately local. We coordinate dispatch and pricing centrally. But the engineer at your door knows the typical fault pattern for your road's age and ground type.
